Image of painting created by Zhang Daqian who dies in 1983. China and Taiwan's copyright duration is life + 50 years therefore not PD until 2034. It is a "forgery" in a sense that it is a derivative work based on the ancient painter's style [1], which is entitled to its own copyright, rather than an exact duplication of an ancient work.
